TATTOO CONTEST
Contest Regulations
& Implementation Modes
General Principles and Impartiality
The contests are held with the aim of ensuring that all participants receive a fair, professional, and impartial evaluation.
Each jury is made up of experienced tattoo artists and professionals in the field with proven experience.
The evaluation of the competing tattoos will be filmed and broadcast live on screen, allowing the audience to witness and view the works in detail.
Evaluation Criteria
The judgment is formulated based on several parameters, including:
Consistency with the style required by the category
Visual impact and overall impression
Dimensions, positioning, and flow (harmony with anatomy and composition)
Technique, cleanliness, readability, and execution
Originality and creativity
Participation Requirements and Registration Limits
Each tattoo can be entered into only one contest category.
Exceptions are made for the winners of the Best of Day, who will automatically gain entry to the Best of Show. Each tattoo artist can submit a maximum of 1 tattoo per category.
Each tattoo artist can submit a maximum of 3 tattoos overall over the three days of the event, each in a different category.
Allowed Tattoos (works done at the convention and works started beforehand)
Only tattoos performed during the convention can participate in the contests, except for the Best Healed category, reserved exclusively for tattoos that are fully healed and completed beforehand. In the Best Healed category, touch-ups made during the convention are not allowed.
Tattoos started in the studio and continued during the convention are also allowed, provided that the part completed during the event is predominant and decisive for the final result. Otherwise, the jury may only evaluate the part actually completed during the convention.
Example (allowable): tattoo on a leg already started in the studio; during the convention, at least one third (1/3) of the entire project is completed and that part is critical for completing/connecting/defining the work. In this case, the tattoo can be presented as a complete project.
If the intervention at the convention is marginal and does not reach a significant portion of the work, only the part completed during the convention will be considered and evaluated.
Contest Registrations (methods and deadlines)
Registrations are conducted daily at the Info Point or at the designated area indicated by the organization.
The registration times will be communicated in the final event program and must be strictly adhered to.
Beyond these deadlines, it will no longer be possible to register the tattoo for the contests of the day.
During the daily registration, the organization will carry out a pre-selection/direction to place the works in the correct category.
Call to the Stage and Absences
The competitor is called to the stage during the scheduled timeframe for the category.
In case of absence, the competitor can be called up to a maximum of 3 times; beyond this limit, they will be automatically disqualified.
Selection and Awarding Procedures (Token)
Access and Identification
Competitors are called to the stage by name and surname, or by the number assigned at the time of registration at the Info Point.
Selection via Token
Each judge has a defined number of Tokens for each round.
Each judge can:Distribute Tokens across different works, or assign all Tokens to a single work deemed preferable.
At the end of each round, the works that receive the highest number of Tokens remain in the competition; others will be invited to leave the stage.
The final winners will be the tattoos that total the highest number of Tokens in the last evaluation round.
Winners will be announced on stage along with the name of the tattoo artist, followed by the awarding of the prize.
Rules of Incompatibility and Conflict of Interest (jury)
To ensure impartiality:
Colleagues or apprentices of judges present in that jury cannot participate in the competition in the specific category.
In the presence of a potential conflict of interest, the judge involved must abstain from being part of the jury and from going on stage for that category.
It is mandatory to promptly inform the organization, allowing for the potential replacement of the judge.
